The Pontifical Academy for Life and the Catholic Health Association of India (Chai) have signed an Agreement, entered on the 1st day of July 2018, to collaborate in implementing Pal-Life Project in India - taking whatever support required from Pallium India and any other such project and research.
Chai is India's largest non-governmental Health Care Network and has developed a practice of holistic Palliative Care and care for the elderly, especially to the unreached, advocacy and research thereof, in collaboration with the Chai healthcare network and other Catholic institutions/organizations.
Chai has developed its own model of holistic Palliative Care called "Pratyasha" (ray of hope) that helps in increasing a massive spread in Palliative Care availability, with a special emphasis in rural Palliative Care. The Pratyasha Programme envisages to upgrade the skills of sisters/doctors/nurses/social workers, with a whole person approach, suitable to the multi-religious and cultural context of India.
