Friday, February 6, the PAV President, Msgr. Vincenzo Paglia, officially opened the 26th Workshop of American bishops on bioethics, organized every two years at the NCBC of Philadelphia, and entitled this year Healing Persons in a Wounded Culture.

In his introductory speech, Msgr. Paglia wanted first and foremost to position the theme of life and of the related serious ethical questions at the intersections of the current cultural landscape, marked at the same time by the great resources and by a weakness of social ties that render man solitary and attended to only by himself; in the second place the President analyzed the challenging ethical connection of the relationship between human existence and technology, illustrating the anthropological and social consequences; in closing, he presented the service that the Academy can conduct in this context, thanks to the renewal of the Statute desired by Pope Francis which associates even institutionally the theme of life to that of the family and of the male-female alliance.
