Regarding the Pope's Message for World Peace Day 2024 on the theme "Artificial Intelligence and Peace", Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia comments as follows:

What seems important to me is the fact that it is humanity who can manage this new technology. The papal document does well to speak of 'artificial intelligences' in the plural, to relativise their impact and at the same time to foster a sensitivity that involves the whole of society. As for the Rome Call for AI Ethics, a document intended for all, it has also been signed by Jews and Muslims; next July, in Hiroshima, Japan, it will also be signed by the other great world religions. In the meantime, thirty American and Italian universities have signed, and on 21 September the 200 universities of Latin America gathered in Rome also signed. It is decisive that an ethical and legal sensibility is developed so that the new technologies are at the service of human development of our Earth.
