«La fuerza del Amor»: a Documentary on Jérôme Lejeune and the Defence of Life
HM Televisión presents The Power of Love: Jérôme Lejeune (1926–1994), a documentary about the French physician and researcher who, in 1958, discovered the genetic cause of Down syndrome, linked to trisomy 21.
The production retraces his commitment to people with disabilities and his opposition to the use of his discovery to justify abortion. This stance, particularly from the 1970s onwards, had consequences for both his personal and professional life.
The documentary features, among others, Jean-Marie Le Méné, president of the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation, and Karin Le Méné, the scientist’s daughter, alongside several representatives of the Foundation in Spain.
