The Pontifical Academy for Life remembers with gratitude Professor Salvatore Mancuso, a former Corresponding Member, who passed away on 7 October 2026.

Professor Emeritus of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart and former Director of the Department for the Protection of Women’s Health and Unborn Life at Gemelli Hospital, he carried forward Adriano Bompiani’s legacy, contributing to the development of the school of Gynaecology and Obstetrics. He conducted research as a senior scientist at the Hormone Research Laboratory of Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm, focusing particularly on fetoplacental endocrinology, maternal–fetal medicine and infertility in couples.

The Academy shares in his family’s grief and entrusts him to the Lord in prayer.
