"I am happy to meet with you. I greet Dr. Ramon Tallaj, founder of SOMOS Community Care, and Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia President of the Pontifical Academy for Life. Together, in these days, you have wanted to reflect on the importance of re-evaluating the role and presence, in the health and social sphere, of the family doctor, and this is very good, because it is a fundamental figure, which combines in itself competence and proximity. Therefore, I would like to briefly emphasize two aspects of this mission, precisely from its definition: that of being a doctor and that of being "of the family..."

Press Release - Pope Francis Rallies Global Effort for Family Doctors’ Recognition. On May 25, the Bishop of Rome has welcomed more than 300 physicians, promoters of the “Thank You, Doctor!” campaign, which has already garnered the support of over one million people. The campaign aims to rediscover and emphasize the role of the primary care physician in health systems and society.
