Vatican City, Oct. 15, 2022. The appointment of the new Ordinary Academicians represents an important event for the entire Pontifical Academy for Life. Our commitment deepens, following the guidelines indicated by Pope Francis in the speeches he has addressed to the Pontifical Academy for Life in recent years and in the definition of the 'strategic' objectives of work and study, contained in the 2019 Letter Humana Communitas.

Thanks to these appointments, some Corresponding Academicians became Ordinary Academicians (Fr. Miguel Yanez Molina S.I., Argentina; Prof. Carlos Centeno Cortés, Spain; Prof. Roberto Dell'Oro, USA; Prof. Paulo de Tarso Ramos Ribeiro, Brazil; Prof. Stephan Werner Sahm, Germany; Prof. Martha Margarita Luz Tarasco, Mexico; Prof. Krzysztof Wiak, Poland)

while other Ordinary Academicians were newly appointed (H. E. Abp.  Castillo Mattasoglio Carlos Gustavo, Peru; Prof. De Montalvo Jaaskelainen Federico, Spain; Prof. Mazzucato Mariana, USA; Prof. Mosaad Helaly Saad Al-Din, Egypt; Prof. Nkengasong John N., Cameroon; Prof. Okwo-Bele Jean Marie, Democratic Republic of Congo; Prof. Dinotshe Tlou Sheila, Botswana).

The Pontifical Academy for Life is organizing the next Assembly, which is set for Feb. 20-22, 2023, on the theme "Converging on the Person. Emerging Technologies for the Common Good." This is a topic of great relevance in these years because ethical reflection is unavoidable in the face of a world that is profoundly changing before our eyes, a world where ethical reflection that speaks to women and men in search of meaning and hope for their lives is more necessary than ever. In this sense, it is important that the Pontifical Academy for Life include women and men with expertise in various disciplines and from different backgrounds, for a constant and fruitful interdisciplinary, intercultural and interreligious dialogue.

On behalf of all the Academicians, we express heartfelt thanks to Pope Francis for the attention with which he follows our work. And we reaffirm our commitment to bring into the world that Gospel-based prophetic inspiration and vocation in order to promote human life always and everywhere.

Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, President – Msgr. Renzo Pegoraro, Chancellor
