Intelligenza Artificiale e Pace
A proposito del Messaggio del Papa per la Giornata Mondiale della Pace 2024 sul tema "Intelligenza Artificiale e Pace", Mons. Vincenzo Paglia commenta così:
Quel che a me pare importante è il fatto che sia l’umanità a poter gestire questa nuova tecnologia. Bene fa il documento papale a parlare di “intelligenze artificiali” al plurale, per relativizzarne l’impatto e nello stesso tempo per favorire anche una sensibilità che coinvolga l’intera società. Per quel che riguarda la Rome Call for AI Ethics, un documento destinato a tutti, è stata firmata anche da ebrei e musulmani; nel prossimo luglio, ad Hiroshima in Giappone, sarà firmata anche dalle altre grandi religioni mondiali. Nel frattempo hanno aderito trenta università americane e italiane e il 21 settembre 2023 hanno firmato le 200 università dell’America Latina riunite a Roma. E’ decisivo che si sviluppi una sensibilità etica e giuridica perché le nuove tecnologie siano al servizio dello sviluppo umano del Pianeta.
What seems important to me is the fact that it is humanity who can manage this new technology. The papal document does well to speak of 'artificial intelligences' in the plural, to relativise their impact and at the same time to foster a sensitivity that involves the whole of society. As for the Rome Call for AI Ethics, a document intended for all, it has also been signed by Jews and Muslims; next July, in Hiroshima, Japan, it will also be signed by the other great world religions. In the meantime, thirty American and Italian universities have signed, and on 21 September 2023 the 200 universities of Latin America gathered in Rome also signed. It is decisive that an ethical and legal sensibility is developed so that the new technologies are at the service of human development of our Earth.
